UNITED ARAB EMIRATES BUSINESS OWNERSHIPHow it works

SECTOR PERSPECTIVE

Manufacturing & production.
A considered acquisition.

Questions for assessing production businesses, including equipment, capacity, customer requirements and working-capital needs.

Start with the operating brief.

Specify the production process and customer demand you are prepared to understand. A fabrication workshop, packaging operation and specialist food producer call for different expertise. Your acquisition brief should describe your technical support, desired scale of involvement and appetite for equipment investment after completion, alongside a purchase-budget preference.

Orders and production quality

Which products, customers and order types support the activity under review? Examine repeat orders, delivery performance, rejects and quality requirements using target-specific evidence. Ask how customer relationships and product specifications would continue under the proposed ownership structure.

Assets and capability

What equipment is essential, who maintains it and what condition is it in? Explore actual output, downtime and staffing rather than treating nameplate capacity as achievable sales. Identify maintenance, replacement and training requirements before deciding how the operation fits your own capabilities.

Cash and transaction scope

How do raw materials, work in progress, finished goods and customer payment terms affect cash needs? Clarify asset ownership, leases, warranties and obligations within the proposed deal. Arrange appropriate technical, financial and legal review of the facility and transaction rather than relying on a headline price.

Questions to take into an assessment.

  • Which machines, skills or suppliers form a practical bottleneck?
  • What evidence explains inventory quality and ageing?
  • What investment would be needed to maintain the current operation?
  • How much activity depends on a small number of customers?

The right fit for you.

Be clear about technical experience and operational support. A buyer intending to preserve an existing production team should assess management depth and incentives. A strategic buyer should state the production capabilities or customer relationships that would complement its current operation.

For an owner considering a transition.

Owners can prepare a broad process description, anonymised customer mix and outline of key assets. Detailed equipment schedules, production records, inventory information and site access should follow an agreed process. Any expansion plan should be identified separately from demonstrated operating performance.

Educational prompts, not findings about a specific company or a statement of regulatory requirements. Sector permissions and transaction matters require appropriate review when a real opportunity exists.
