The practical answer
Buyer output: a clear account of the customers, channels and commercial assumptions behind the acquisition.
Understand why customers buy
Map customer segments, service channels and the problem the business solves. Review repeat purchasing, retention and pricing in the available records. A trading story becomes more useful when it can be linked to customer behaviour rather than broad statements about market demand.
Examine the revenue mix
Separate recurring, repeat and one-off activity. Identify where revenue depends on a particular customer, channel or individual. Review gross contribution alongside volume so that the most visible activity is not automatically treated as the most valuable.
Build a supported operating view
Discuss what would be preserved after completion and what the buyer intends to change. Keep proposed improvements separate from demonstrated trading. If further market work is required, define the question and evidence needed rather than treating an optimistic growth narrative as a forecast.
