The practical answer
Buyer output: a responsibility map and a costed plan for your intended level of involvement.
Map responsibility beyond job titles
Ask who approves purchasing, manages customer issues, schedules work and monitors collections. A manager title does not explain the authority or support behind the role. Identify the decisions still made by the owner and how they would be handled after completion.
Review the cost of the intended model
Confirm that the financial figures include the management structure you intend to retain. If the buyer needs additional oversight, budget for it explicitly. Compare reporting quality, meeting routines and the availability of operating information with the level of involvement you expect to provide.
Agree how the owner steps back
A transition plan should transfer knowledge, access and decision-making responsibilities in a defined order. Set clear reporting and escalation arrangements with the continuing team. The objective is a workable ownership model, rather than a promise that a business requires no attention.
