The practical answer
Management output: a sequenced integration plan tied to the original acquisition objectives.
Choose the integration model deliberately
Decide whether the target will remain largely independent, share selected functions or join a common operating structure. Connect that choice with the acquisition purpose. Full integration is not automatically the best answer for every business or customer relationship.
Assign workstreams and dependencies
Map finance, technology, people, customer delivery, suppliers and reporting. Sequence work so that one change does not undermine another. For example, establish access and ownership before moving systems, and understand customer commitments before changing service routines.
Measure outcomes against the investment case
Track integration costs and the operating measures that support expected benefits. Keep base trading visible so that acquisition performance is not hidden within consolidated totals. Review responsibilities and timing when new evidence changes the original assumptions.
